Hi, I’m Hoang Huynh.aka Aetheros

My journey from fit to fat to fit, three times over. I’m telling it because somebody reading this is mid swing right now and has decided that makes them a failure. It doesn’t.

Two photographs side by side: carrying my daughter on my shoulders, heavier on the left, leaner on the right.

I always swing twenty kilos

Up when I’m happy, up when I’m sad, down again when I decide it’s time. Three full laps, and I’ve stopped calling it a character flaw. Some months my work decides what I eat: a project lands, I’m in another city on Tuesday, the client dinner runs to ten, and by Friday my fridge holds condiments and good intentions.

It took me years to believe this: I live well at both ends. At the top of the swing I am the same man with a bigger appetite and a busier calendar. What I needed was never more shame. It was a way back that worked on the months my willpower was somewhere else.

Me in my twenties, thin, before I understood any of this.
Me asleep over a notebook on a train, working.
Me by the sea in a red t-shirt, at the heavier end of a swing.

Patience, discipline, and good will

Coming back down takes three things and no drama. Patience, because twenty kilos is a season and not a weekend. Discipline, which for me means deciding once on Sunday instead of deciding badly five times a week. And good will towards myself, because the version of me who put the weight on was doing his best with the week he had.

Me holding out the waistband of trousers that no longer fit.
Mirror selfie at the lean end, months of patience later.

So I vibecoded Ketobentō

I’m a consultant who learned to build software with an AI pair in the evenings, and I built this for exactly one user: me, mid busy stretch, trying to get back down the swing without turning my life into a spreadsheet.

It turns on one number most recipe apps never record: how long a thing keeps once it’s cooked. From that it works out my cook days, what shares the oven while it’s already hot, and what to buy. It asks for my weight and nothing else.

Then I tidied it up enough to hand over. Free, no advertising, no data going anywhere, no upsell three screens in. If it saves you a Sunday the way it saves mine, that is the whole return I wanted.

Three laps in, I’m still here.
So are you.

No number, no timeline, and I won’t pretend it is easy. But swinging doesn’t disqualify you. You can be happy at the top, decide to come down, and get there with patience and a bit of structure. I’ve done it three times, I’ll probably do it again, and that no longer frightens me.

Ketobentō is the support I wanted, handed over with no strings. Use it, ignore what you don’t need, and if it helps, do three things for me.
